Development

Resulting from the user journey, the next step was to find the user needs by creating a Moscow Chart. I was able to set prioritization  of what must be included in the LWDS app.

The site map consists of the general blueprint of the app, where as the user navigation map depicts specifically to the steps of the user's goal.

Following, for my concept designs I explored three directions. I moved forward and sketched out one design concept and conducted paper prototype user testing. As a result from user testing, I re-evaluated the navigation and created new concept sketches.

For my visual development, I created moodboards inspired by a specific type of wedding at first and then explored three more directions in pursuit of choosing one.

cONCEPT DESIGNS

Lets first explore three concept designs to determine design direction.

Concept 1: List

Concept 2: Dress Pattern

Concept 3: Scrap Book

Took a poll to see what most would prefer. Concept 2 took the most popular vote (8 out of 10 people), however one person voted for concept 3 providing feedback that it's harder to visualize the dress on herself if its on someone else already.

Pursued to sketch out Concept 2.

cONCEPT DESIGN Sketches

Explored further into concept 2 and shared with one person.  To further learn about my concept design, click on the photo to see more details.

Task 1: Sign in and find a dress.

Feedback: Simplify dashboard. There's no need for a main dashboard if its in the navigation.

Task 2: Sign up and set up a group.

Feedback:

Questions: Everyone has Facebook, why don't you create a group through that?

Paper prototype/user testing

Created paper prototype of app and tested with three individuals.

^ Paper Prototype

Based on the first hand drawn concept, the home navigation was discarded due to repetitive feed back from focus group. More script has been created for user to be guided on what to do. Hand drawn screens of user interface possibilities.

^ User Testing 1

User found app easy to navigate through. The goal was to sign up, upload her photo, locate the dress internationally, add it to cart. Then she wanted to go to her groups, create a new group and share one of her favorites.

^ User Testing 2

This user was all over the place, kept going back and forth to different places of the app. She found there was no need to locate the dress, that she preferred it to be as filter instead of screen.

^ User Testing 3

This user had one specific goal: find a dress. She signed in, found a dress near her, message the boutique about a fitting and to see if her size was available, and added to her cart.

revised concept design sketches

After receiving feedback from user testing, I sketched new concept design. Changes I made were narrowing down the dress inspiration detail
